3 Manga’s to Read This Holiday Season
Trying to find good manga to read before the year’s up? Tune in, and lets go over a few you should read!

Now that the Christmas season is here, it is CRUCIAL to sit back, and relax to some manga and hot cocoa that steams up those cold hands.
This list is comprised of my personal recommendations, which I believe to be good fits for this holiday season!
So now, no more procrastinating and let us start with the first manga recommendation…

SPY x Family
My first impression of Spy X Family, was that it would be this hardcore, epic family story detailing the adventures and serious struggles of the family the story surrounds itself with.

Yeah…. No, I couldn’t have been more wrong in my judgement 😅😅
Spy X Family is actually a really sweet, and comedic manga. With each chapter making me smile in one way or another 😊
To give a brief summary with no spoilers, the manga is about a little girl, Anya, who gets adopted by a spy who has no clue that she has telepathic powers; because of her powers, she knows her new dad’s a spy. Anya, filled with young child-like wonder contemplates the exciting possibilities that may arise thanks to her father being a spy, and because of her creative imagination, she tends to get herself into many “interesting” situations.
The story also jumps between the balance of the father, Loid, understanding what it’s like to raise an exuberant child, whilst juggling his spy-work at the same time.
The story has it’s comedic plot twists and turns and as you continue to read on, you really grow attached to the character’s and their unique characteristics. And you get lots of good laughs from reading the story too! I can honestly say that this manga, is a really great story to read this holiday season because of it’s charm, and comedy.
Because of all the facts mention above, Spy X Family would be my number one recommendation to read for Christmas 2023.
Jumping right into the next recommendation, it’s…

Jujutsu Kaisen
With the recent release of the anime’s season 2, Jujutsu Kaisen has been heating up this holiday season, with action, chaos and mystery!
Jujutsu Kaisen is a series that holds it’s place close in my heart. Reason’s for that being it’s realistic character’s, relationships, struggles and motives, and much more! I love how the history of this world has heavy influences on it’s modern day, which is what has led to many catastrophe’s which anime watcher’s are currently seeing as of 2023.
Now, I don’t want to spoil this manga, but I do have something important to say. This manga, from the very beginning shows that isn’t afraid to mention serious topics of loss or death. And as you read the first few chapters, you lose hindsight of that, and the reader can be given a false illusion that everything is okay, that everything is normal.
But… it’s not.

Our protagonist is no-where-near normal, and neither are the situation’s they find themselves in. It’s basically about a normal kid, Yuji Itadori, who suddenly finds himself entangled in a society full of sorcerer’s and is forced to take part in this society all because he goggled up an ancient curse in which resurrected an ancient demon in his body.
I like Jujutsu Kaisen because of it’s serious storytelling, it’s themes, and because of how it’s not afraid to portray a variety of characters, with each one having different motivations and goals that make you questions if one-side is truly right, or wrong.
Because of these aspects, even though it’s not very light-hearted or Christmas-y, I do think Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga everyone should try to pick up.
And lastly, for my final recommendation to read this holiday season, we have…

Wotakoi: Love is Hard for an Otaku
A friend initially recommend this manga to me, and at first, I wasn’t too sure what my overall thoughts would be, but after reading the first few chapters, I fell in love with the manga immediately.
This beautiful romance manga explores the dynamic between a game/anime loving friend group where their romance stories split into 3 pairs, with each volume diving deeper into the love story of each character in this friend group. And the story starts with my favorite duo which was the slow-burn love story between two childhood-friends/co-workers that both love gaming and anime.
I love this manga because of it’s light-hearted, romantic tone’s that stay consistent throughout the entirety of the manga. Wotakoi is a story that tugs at the heart, and warms you right up just the way you’d want when reading a sweet love story.
I hope that my recommendation’s inspired you to read the manga’s I listed here! If you aren’t into manga, also know that all the works listed on this post also have animes too, so you can watch those as well! And if you need any more manga’s to read, or if you’d like to recommend me manga, send me a chat!
Until next time!
